Dan's medical fund

Hello all and thank you for visiting our page.

Dan suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage (brain bleed) on September 29, 2014. We went to the ER at Gulf Coast Medical where they did a CT scan and discovered the bleed. We were transported to Shands in Gainesville in the very early hours of the morning on the 30th via airplane (life flight.) upon arriving at Shands he was immediate admitted to the Neuro ICU where a team of neurosurgeons were already reviewing his CT and planning their next move. It was decided that they would perform a cerebral angiogram to view the vessels in the brain to determine the cause of the bleed. Aneurysm was ruled out and they were not able to determine any cause for the bleed which is not uncommon, it just means that whatever vessel was causing the bleed may had already healed itself and that was a good thing!

He was taken back up to his room in ICU and a Neuro check was performed at which time they discovered Dan had had a stroke. He was unable to use his left arm and had left sided facial paralysis. They took him back down to repeat the angiogram and discovered a tiny blood clot in his brain causing the stroke. It was too small to remove but they felt that it was small enough to not cause any more problems and that the current stroke symptoms would go away eventually. They were right, within the last 24 hours all signs of stroke have dissipated and he is doing much better. The worry now is that while the body tries to absorb the blood that is pooled in the brain, it puts him at high risk for a major Ischemic Stroke because the blood mixes with cerebral spinal fluid which makes a very agitating mixture to the vessels in the brain. He will have another angiogram on Monday, October 6th and they are expecting him to be here for two weeks minimum.

Dan was in the middle of switching jobs. His last day at Carrabba's was September 19th and he was set to start his new job with Texas Roadhouse this Friday, October 3rd. In addition to being currently unemployed, our insurance and benefits ended September 30th. We were able to extend our benefits for one month through Cobra for a very high monthly premium and are still looking at many bills, co-pays, and our deductible to be met.

This is is where you come in! We appreciate any and all donations and are very thankful for each and every one of you!!!

Love to all,
Dan, Nichole and Lucy Magner
