Civil War Hero Obelisk Restoration Fund

Donation protected
Capt. Daniel H Daley, Co A, 18th Vol Infantry NY, my Great Great Grandfather, is an American Hero. In April of 1861, 3 days after President Lincoln's call for 75,000 men, Daniel Daley was one of the first to volunteer and joined with 47 men to form Co A of NY's 18th Vol. Infantry. They fought in many battles including the First Battle of Bull Run. Daniel Daley was wounded protecting his men at Crampton's Gap on 14 Sep 1862, almost died on the battle field, was honorably discharged, was able to come home to Schenectady NY and fathered his only Child, my Great Grandmother in 1864 and died from his wounds in 1866. Now, it is time to heal the wounds of the Obelisk. I am working with a company that has agreed to repair the monument to its original condition for cost. They have located the topper in nearby creek. Equipment rental alone will run approx. $2200 and they are estimating it will take 1 week of labor. I have never done anything like this before but am confident that many hearts coming together for a great cause will get this much needed task completed. Any money left over will be donated to the Vale Cemetery to help restore other Civil War Era gravestones. Thank you for your consideration.
