#Dad'sHeart:
My name is 'Jasmine Rock", I am the daughter of (John Arcurio). I am starting a GOFUNDME campaign for my dad whom is in desperate need of some financial assistanance due to some recent final information he has received from his doctors.
My hopes are that with All of your help to get this message out to all (John Arcurio's) facebook family members, friends, aquaintenances, rafting companies, raft guides, and any former employers.

WHAT'S GOING ON:
My dad has found out after a routine checkup a few months ago when he had a 'Basil cell cancer' removed from his left shoulder that he has a "heart murmur", thus telling dad he needs to have it looked at further. After multiple doctors visits, dad had an "Electrocardiogram" that pinpointed the murmur which is located in his heart, " Aortic Valve" regurgitation, which is basically the main heart valve that pushes blood throughout his body is sucking alot of it back into the aortic valve causing dad's heart to slowluy enlarge, which can lead to coronary heart failure in time. Dad's heart is functioning on 45% of its capacity from the normal 100%. Funny thing about this whole thing is dad shows ZERO symptoms at all. He is active, never slows down, always in a good mood, and very lively to say the least.
With the cardiologist recommendation of getting an "Angeogram" performed, dad had the procedure done a few weeks ago which they inserted a 'green dye' into his main arterty in his groin area, which tells if any of his main and secondary arteries are clogged or blocked.  Results are "All CLEAR", no blockage anywhere.

The Cardiologist has recommended "Open Heart Surgery" to replace the BAD, non properly funtioning Aortic Valve with a "Bovine Valve". With not many other options available, after much consideration and thought, Dad has opted to have this surgery done A.S.A.P. and will be operated on at "Mercy General Hospital", Sacramento, California on November 2nd, 2017.

My dad, by far is the most fit 60 year old man that I know of and still has  (6) pack abs. But the truth remains, inside dads heart is NOT agreeing with the rest of his fit body and will cause problems soon if nothing is done.

The "Open Heart Surgery" is a 4-6 hour process, and dad will be in the hospital anywhere from 5-7 days afterwards. He will be staying with me, my husband,  and his 2 grandsons during his recooperation the first few weeks and then possibly return to his own home in northern California for the 'physical therapy" followup process. Dads possible recovery time is a minimum of 3 months up to a year depending on his abilities to recover.

RECOVERY & HOW "YOU" CAN HELP:
If you know my dad, he does NOT like "Being down and out", for any period of time, But he understands how crucial for him to take it 'easy' for a FULL recovery.

Here is where "YOU" come into play.
If you have had the opportunity to know my dad, you know how hard he works, but sometimes hard work isn't enough.  My wish is to raise donations of approximately $20000-$25000 to help him pay for partial medical bills, but mostly the funds will go towards dads monthly house mortgage, space rent, utilities, and some other minor monthly bills so he can 'recooperate' without the worries and stress the next several months whether or not he has a home to return to, and NOT be in a mound of debt.
Even after the doctors release him back to living and work, depending on dads recovery, will depend on whether or not he can return to his love of River rafting, Kayaking, grooundskeeping and such, or if he may have to "Transition" into a less physical demanding line of work.
Finances weigh heavy on the outcome of his recovery, no matter what, I know my dad looks forward to being productive and working again.

HARD WORKING & ALWAYS GIVING A HAND:
As most of you know that my dad has an "INCREDIBLE WORK ETHIC" and gives 110% where ever he has worked over the past 45 years. He is a "DOER" and if he is not working his regular job, you can find him building someones fence, landscaping a yard, caring for someones animals, giving rides to and from airport, just always willing to lend a hand to his friends, family and aquaintenances. Many of you may have benefitted from my dads servant attitude and loyal friendship. My dad has always been an "Outdoorsy" guy with coaching and playing soccer, wrestling, river rafting and kayaking.  Several years ago dad dissolved his 'Landscaping business" to pursue his love of "Outdoor recreation", especially River guiding.  Now 31 seasons later on many rivers across the states, but Commercially on the "Kern River", Arkansas River in Colorado, and the last 10 seasons on "American River" here in California.
Dad has worked various jobs during the "OFF SEASON" from rafting to include: (Groundskeeping, Heavy Equipment Operator, Irrigatiion designer and installer, Bus driver, even a pizza delivery guy) for a few months, only to be able to return to his LOVE of being on the river.
With dads enthusiastic personality, when he is around other river guides, he likes to hopefully "RUB OFF" on them and still tends to run circles around some of the younger guides more then half is age, not wanting to show off, just "Mentor" a good work ethic for them.

DAD'S REALITY:
Dad lives his life day to day, not stressing over what the future has in store for him. Unfortunitly LIFE on the river leaves little space to SAVE & PREPARE for those unexpected things that pop up, like "Open Heart Surgery".
With that said, my dad is literally "Up a River without a Paddle", no pun intended!
His Love for the outdoors moved him around alot over the past 15+ years, but he finally planted "ROOTS" and bought a little place he calls Home. Now his son and family as well as my family have a place to come and visit in beautiful Northern California.
Being physically unable to work the next several months, due to this unexpected surgery, he could Loose it all.

I am asking from the bottom of my heart to "PAY IT FORWARD", and help someone you know would help you, or has already helped you in one way or another, in a HEARTBEAT!
You dont go around and "DO" good deeds, or be a good friend/person to get something in retutn, you just do it. It's encouraging when you see others you have vested in, invest in you, especially in your time of need.
I will keep you "ALL" updated on dads surgery and recovery as time rolls onward.  Please share this with others on Facebook and/or other socail media. You can note : #DAD'SHEART/John Arcurio
Please consider donating whatever you can to help my dad through this difficult time of need.

With much appreciation and sincerity,
Jsmine Rock  (Johns Daughter)
