Wael Kassem, a father of 3 gorgeous girls and husband of a loving wife, has been taken into custody by ICE (Immigrations Customs Enforcement) on Thursday, August 3rd 2017, unlawfully detained in solitary for two days, and awaiting deportation any minute. Wael has been a law abiding resident of Staten Island for 16 years, legally working night and day as a manager for a NY clothing company to provide a decent living for his wife and 3 daughters. Wael and his family exemplify a model American family; annually paying their taxes, constantly involved in their local community, and their children in some of the highest rated schools in the 5 bureaus. Hana Kassem (15), the eldest of the three and president of The Rotary Interact Club, is going into her junior year at Staten Island Technical High School for the academically gifted. Jana Kassem (14), is starting as a freshman this fall at Susan E. Wagner High School, one of the top rated schools in Staten Island. Farah Kassem (6), is the youngest of the three, will be starting 1st grade this September at PS 50 as a student in the Gifted and Talented Program. All three girls are incredibly bright and talented, being brought up in a loving and nourishing household by a dedicated father, Wael, and an extremely involved mother, Sherien Shady. Sherien (42) is a stay-at-home mom who has dedicated her years of motherhood to not only serve her family, but to also serve her community. Sherien has been an active member of her daughters' schools' PTA(s), SLT(s), and all school events, volunteering her time and effort in hopes of providing the best experience for her girls and their community counterparts. This amazing family is held together by the glue that is their father, Wael. His hard work, his loving heart, his understanding and accepting parenting style, and his utmost support for his family is the seed from which these amazing ladies stem. Wael is the breadwinner of this family, as sherien does not work, nor can work under her current medical circumstances. In March, Sherien was the victim to a major car crash, that left her with five misplaced discs, hernias, and a pinched nerve. She has been in physical therapy ever since, taking several prescribed medications, and in continuous pain. To deport Wael is to deprive this American family of a father, husband, and their only source of viable living. To deport Wael is to cripple three beautiful girls and their mother for doing nothing other than being a perfect puzzle piece in America's melting pot.
