During a trip overseas last year, I took the time to visit Arusha in Tanzania, Africa. There like many others, I volunteered to help with local projects that are in desperate need of financial support.

As a result of my time there I have decided to campaign to raise money to continue supporting these projects. I have kept contact with the administrators of the projects mentioned below and it is my goal, with your support, to assist them so they can continue to positively impacting the lives ofmany children in need.

Ujamaa Children's Home

Ujamaa Children's currently cares for 9 amazing children in the home with the plan to increase to 20 kids by the end of 2014. In order to achieve this Ujamaa Children's has commenced construction of a new and bigger home, allowing them to take in at least another 11 children and giving them the opportunity to go to school as well as providing shelter and three meals a day.

Newlands Orphanage

I was unable to visit Newlands Orphanage during my time in Tanzania however I met and became friends with several people who volunteered there. I have been told the children their are very happy and high spirited. I know they are in desperate need of financial assistance which is why I have chosen to assist in supporting them.

Newlands Orphanage is an orphanage located in Moshi, Tanzania. The children here range in ages from 2 to 18. Over 65 children are supported by the orphanage, however approximately 40 live on site. The other children attend boarding school and are at the orphanage during the holidays! Many of the children here only have one outfit, and pair of shoes. I have been told, they do not let it get their spirits down.

We plan to donate funds to Newlands Orphanage to go towards providing their residents with a bore hole to ensure a clean supply of water. They are nearly half way in raising enough money to make this dream a reality and they need our help! We have also donated funds for food.

Dymphna Special Needs School

Dymphna is a learning centre for children and young adults with disabilities and special educational needs. The main message it promotes is that children with disabilities deserve and benefit from access to education.
