What is a DTreat Program?
DTreat is a retreat program that connects young adults between the ages of 18-30 with type 1 diabetes. Young adults attending DTreat have the opportunity to attend discussions, workshops and social events on life-affecting topics such as:
Health insurance, navigating health care and finances
Exercise and nutrition
Time management with diabetes in your life
Stress management and relationships
Partying and other risky business
Sexuality
How to handle your parents' fears
DTreat programs are generously sponsored by many foundations, diabetes industry partners and donors. The DTreat model was founded by the Diabetes Education and Camping Association and many DTreats have been hosted across the country.
What we hope to achieve with a Hodia DTreat-
We hope to reach a group of young adults that is currently not being serviced by our current programs at Idaho Diabetes Youth Programs and create a program for camp graduates. We hope to help bridge an education gap with growing into adulthood and taking care of all your own medical needs.
Funding a DTreat Conference is very costly however. The average cost per attendee is about $350 but the cost to attend is only $75. Through donations from people like you we are able keep these costs down and fund this awesome learning experience for young adults with T1D!
