DREAM was founded in Vermont in 1999 by a group of college volunteers who saw a need for positive mentorship in low-income housing districts. Since then DREAM has expanded their program to Boston and most recently, the city of brotherly love. Currently, a group students from Temple University serve as volunteer Mentors to youth at two separate housing developments located only a few blocks away from campus. Each week Mentors organize Dream Fridays which feature both group and one on one enrichment activities for the kids. DREAM mentors serve as positive role models to the youth and help them to believe in their potential and that anything is possible, including going to college!
At the end of each semester the Temple Mentors take the kids on a culminating "adventure" trip which could be anything from visiting a local museum, taking them to Washington, DC or traveling with them on a "college tour" road trip. It really depends on how much we are able to raise from awesome people, like you, willing to donate a few dollars to some great kids! If you would like to make a donation, the money we receive from generous donors will go directly to support our end of semester adventures. Your donations will help give these deserving kids an experience of a lifetime!
