DPS Rescue's Intensive Care Canines

I'm Kim, and I'm a big fan and supporter of DPS Rescue out of Palo Alto. I'm raising money to cover the vet bills for DPS dogs needing TLC before finding their furever homes.

Here are some of the past and present TLC dogs' stories:

One of these dogs was my foster dog, Clover the Maltipoo. Clover came into rescue with sad eyes, a broken leg (an injury the child in her former family gave her), and no way to expel all that fun-loving puppy energy. Since the family waited so long after her injury to contact DPS, she needed an extensive surgery. But DPS took her in, paid for her $2000+ surgery, and got her on the path to recovery. It was wonderful seeing Clover blossom into such a happy, playful little pup.

I want to make sure that DPS is able to continue rescuing highly-adoptable dogs like Clover who is absolutely thriving in her new home after receiving medical attention and getting adopted!

Ella:
This little terrier mix had surgery to realign her broken leg (broken in multiple places) and was put in a cast. This is an amazing dog who will have a full recovery thanks to a wonderful vet and surgeon that DPS Rescue works with. Vet bills are at $1849 and counting.

Tallulah Belle:
A shelter called DPS about a healthy 10 year old Shih Tzu who needed only minor dental work. After rescuing, they almost immediately received a call from her foster that something was seriously wrong with her jaw. Tallulah Belle had a broken jaw! Their regular orthopedic vet was unable to fix her jaw and she required a dog dental specialist. Her total bill totaled $4,000, but Tallulah Belle is now happy and comfortable in her new home!

Dreamy:
A high-kill shelter called DPS about an Old English Sheepdog who needed rescue...and she had a tumor. They removed the tumor, did the biopsy and she received a clean bill of health! If they hadn't taken her she would have been euthanized, and that would have been so tragic for such an awesome dog. Her vet total: $1200.

Louie: DPS took in Louie knowing he had a hip or leg issue. Turns out that Louie was suffering from bullet wounds. He was shot - and not just once! From the trajectory pattern of the bullets, he was clearly running away and being shot at as he ran. He has several rounds from his chest area, through his abdomen, all the way to a cluster in his leg and hip area. None hit major organs, and surgery to remove would be ill advised. Although he'll always have some discomfort, DPS is getting him all the treatment they can to keep this mellow boy happy and enjoying life.

Murray: A family surrendered Murray, saying he was 3 years old and healthy. Turns out, he's 5-7 years old. He has a grade 2 out of 6 heart murmur. He had a double crypt orchid surgery which means neither of his testicles descended - so he had to have exploratory surgery to find the testicles and have them removed. He also had 17 teeth removed!

Sadie: This poor grey Poodle had a mass on her forehead. But with DPS' help, it was removed and her biopsy came out fine!

It truly means the world to me to help keep DPS Rescue open to dogs with critical medical needs. Thank you for your support!
