Memorial Field Improvement Project

My name is Bill Kelly and I am the President of the Dobbs Ferry Youth Little League .

 

The Dobbs Ferry Youth Little League (DFYLL) is a 100% volunteer-run organization serving more than 300 T-ball, Softball, and Baseball players and their families in the Dobbs Ferry community. Our home field, located at Memorial Park on Palisade St. in Dobbs Ferry, is in desperate need of improvements. In its current state, the field is aged and is significantly worn and vulnerable to weather. The field is in such condition that opposing Leagues often prefer not to play in Dobbs Ferry, forcing our teams to play most of their games away in other towns. Further, Memorial Field lacks basic, appealing amenities that competing Villages and Leagues offer, such as concessions, bathrooms, and adequate equipment storage.

 

While field improvements are cost-prohibitive to a small League like DFYLL, when finished, our first-class field can bring tremendous value to the League and the Dobbs Ferry community. An upgraded, well-maintained field will improve safety and enhance the Little League experience for our 300+ players, families, and visitors. It will also offer a much more aesthetically pleasing park view to area neighbors and encourage opposing Leagues to want to play competitively in Dobbs Ferry more often - bringing more business to more than 40 local sponsors .

 

On behalf of the DFYLL Board of Directors, I humbly ask for the community's support for this project. The $30,000 fundraising goal will cover leveling the field, installing a new playing surface, improving drainage, and related updates. These renovations will allow the kids to be proud of and play on the field for years to come. Any amount is helpful. And remember, many employers offer non-profit donation matching which means that your donation dollar goes farther toward helping DFYLL reach its goal.

 

So you know a little more about me, my daughter Fiona plays 12U Softball and my son Will plays Seniors Baseball for DFYLL. They each have been involved with DFYLL since they each began in T-ball and both attend Dobbs Ferry schools. My wife Lori is the VP of Communications for the Dobbs Ferry PTSA. We love Dobbs Ferry and DFYLL loves bringing T-ball, Softball, and Baseball to the community.

 

As a board, we are committed to the long-term appeal, growth, and success of the Dobbs Ferry Youth Little League. As a Dobbs Ferry resident, I am personally committed to the success of this project as well.
