My name is Dewitt "DC" Pratt and I am a 23 year old Muay Thai fighter. Muay Thai is a style of kickboxing that which originated in Thailand and utilizes punches, kicks, knee and elbow strikes. Currently I am the only professional Bahamian Muay Thai fighter. As an amatuer I have competed in The Bahamas and America where I won the IKF east coast championship in October 2013. I decided to take my fight career to the next level by training and competing in Thailand for a period of 3 months where got the opportunity to fight on Thai national television. While in Thailand I’ve been approached by various promoters who’ve offered me opportunities to fight in China, France, and Germany. Ultimately, my goal is to become world champion. I am more than willing to put in the effort and sacrifice to achieve this once I have your support.
The purpose of this letter is to request sponsorship to defray the costs in pursuing my endeavors. Training in Thailand has improved my skills as a professional fighter and brought exposure to The Bahamas and the versatility of its athletes. While in Thailand I serve not only as a professional athlete, but as an ambassador to The Bahamas considering many Thais have never heard of our country. Upon returning home I’ve worked feverishly to promote the sport locally by teaching classes and sharing my experience through the various media outlets. It is my desire to return to Thailand in November 2014 for another 3 month period so that I may continue to increase my skills and experience so that I may represent The Bahamas on a larger stage.
