Acupuncture at Standing Rock
Donation protected
Hey Family,
I am an Acupuncturist living and working in Brooklyn NY. I stand in solidarity with the Tribal Nations protesting the building of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) through sacred Sioux land; which will threaten the Missouri River water supply from Standing Rock all the way downstream to the Gulf of Mexico. I am headed to North Dakota with a small team of Acupuncturists (GAHP) to provide Acupuncture and medical care for the the protesters at Standing Rock.
I am staunchly opposed to the building of the DAPL through the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. The decision to build the Pipeline was made without Tribal input. The river is their only source of water. Already, a 2 mile long path has already been bulldozed through sacred tribal burial grounds.
Thousands of protesters from Tribal Nations all over North America have decended on Standing Rock in an attempt to halt the building of the pipeline. There is now a small city of protesters occupying the land. Greg Wilz, division director of homeland security ordered the removal of state-owned water tanks and trailers that had been providing protest camps with drinking water.
This massive protest has become a movement. There have been gains and losses. It is just the beginning and support is needed! Two decisions have been made by the courts and government. First, a federal judge has denied the tribe’s attempt to halt construction of the pipeline. Shortly after this loss, the US government announced that it will voluntarily stop construction until it can “determine whether it will need to reconsider any of its previous decisions regarding the Lake Oahe site under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) or other federal laws.”
All funds raised will go towards our transportation, camp supplies, medical supplies and food /water costs. Any extra funds raised will be donated to the camps at Standing Rock. They have been there for several months and are planning on occupying the land throughout the Winter if need be. Please support this effort. Any amount helps. Thank you!
Yours truly,
Rachel Esquilin
