Help Cynthia Beat Her Battle

Donation protected
Silence in not always golden. In December, just before Christmas, our close friend and colleague Cynthia Velazquez was diagnosed with throat cancer.  She is the youngest daughter of a very hard working family, she is the favorite aunt to her 12 nieces and nephews and above all, she is a dynamic person with a disastrous diagnosis.  Help us, help her, keep smiling.

In September of last year, Cynthia was hit by a drunk driver while going home from work and suffered multiple broken bones and a serious back injury. An MRI was taken where they discovered an abnormality near her neck.  The doctor’s found a malignant tumor in her thyroid that needed to be removed immediately. On December 29th, she underwent surgery to remove the cancer and was told that everything had been removed successfully despite having to now take hormonal medicine for life to substitute for the absence of her thyroid glands. Unexpectedly, during her post surgery follow up, she learned that the cancer had spread to her trachea. On January 8, 2015, Cynthia underwent surgery again to remove the remaining affected areas. She will be receiving continuous radiation therapy and regular monitoring. She is currently recovering from surgery and is looking forward to going back to work.

Help us, help her, focus on her recovery and not on her medical bills and living expenses that will continue to cause stress that may lengthen and hinder the success of her recovery.

Cynthia is an avid Cowboys football fan and in terms of the end of the Cowboy season this year, Cynthia would like to say, “It was a catch and we still dem boys.”
