Artist Residency in Morocco

I've been invited to partake in a month long art residency with Culture Vultures in the village of Sefrou Morocco! I've accepted the offer and paid the residency deposit and 30 incredible donations from friends and colleagues in the first week of this campaign have helped me purchase a flight for this residency (THANK YOU)!  However, I still have a ways to go to cover the additional fees and expenses for this trip. I will attend this residency from July 3rd- July 31st and aim to raise these funds before (or shortly after) I arrive!  My goal is now to raise $2100* which will cover a flight from NYC, supplies for the group project, transportation around Fes/Sefrou and an assistant fee for the assigned local fixer that will help me navigate the area.  

My name is Tiffany Jackson and I am an independent documentary filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY.  There are four artists total that are part of this residency (a sculptor, sound artist, an experimental filmmaker and myself).  We will work on individual personal projects that involve the local community, as well as collaborate as a group on a larger project.  My individual project will look at artisan argan oil production.  I'm curious to learn how this simple oil became the most sought after cosmetic ingredient in the USA.  The majority of collectives producing argan oil are based in southwestern Morocco, but I will look at smaller collectives in the Atlas Mountains near Fes.   All of our projects will be displayed and screened at the end of the residency as a gallery show in the village.
