Help for the most deserving

Crystal Dreyer is a young, Stay at Home Mother to 5 children and a Wife to William, who is disabled due to complications of repeated Pneumothorax. William receives a minimal amount of SSI as result of his condition. Crystal baby sits children inside her home to bring in funds for her Family. Thier monthly income is never enough to make ends meet therefore they go without most things, others might consider needs.

A pneumothorax (noo-mo-THOR-acks) is a collapsed lung. Pneumothorax occurs when air leaks into the space between your lungs and chest wall. This air pushes on the outside of your lung and makes it collapse. In most cases, only a portion of the lung collapses.

In early August, Crystal took her oldest daughter, Maraya to the Dr. for a standard well check, when the Dr. noticed a problem with her eyes. She has a dislocated lens. She was referred to a local Children's Hospital for further testing, where the concerns and signs of a genetic abnormality were addressed, in Maraya and Crystal. They suspect both Mother and Daughter very likely have Marfan Syndrome. Crystal has 5 children and all 3 of her girls show signs of this Syndrome. It that can be fatal, if not treated with preventative measures.

Marfan syndrome affects the body’s connective tissue. Connective tissue holds the body together and plays a role in its growth and development. Because connective tissue is found throughout the body, Marfan syndrome and related disorders can affect many parts of the body, including the heart and blood vessels, bones and joints, eyes, skin, and lungs.

With these new concerns, there needs to be many Dr. appointments attended, testing, follow up appointments etc. Crystal is currently unable to handle these concerns and move forward in diagnoses and treatment due to lack of funds and transportation. Not to mention the daily tasks of raising a Family and common Dr. appointments.

Each tax season, they purchase a minimally priced vehicle hoping it makes it through the year to ensure the Family has transporation for daily needs and most importantly Dr. visits. In February of this year, they purchased a 1997 Mazda MPV for $1350.00. It lasted them until early August 2014 at which time it began over heating and experiencing other mechanical issues. It would cost them more to fix the van, than the value of the van its self. In addition, they do not have the funds to make the repairs.

This Family does not own 1 piece of new furniture, they don't have the new electronics or spend money frivolously, they don't aim to have the newest/trendy clothes and they accept hand me downs and appreciate everything. They are happy and thankful just to have each other. All Crystal wants is a happy, healthy Family and to raise her children to be respectful, productive adults. Due to her financial situation and the tough blows that life has dealt her, she can't even ensure their health right now, as she can't even attend the necessary appointments for her and her Family.

"Crystal is one Special Lady. She is the most loyal supporter and Volunteer for my Non Profit Charity, Little Elves for Little Angels, Inc. (LELA, Inc.)which provides needs for less fortunate Familes year round. Crystal has not missed one event that I have held for LELA, Inc. She could never financially contribute, but she is there in every other way possible, from sorting gifts in the floor at 9 months pregnant to computer work, processing applications, organizing events, making calls, sending emails, brain storming and when she was able picking up donations and dropping them off. There is no financial compensation for her work as we operate on a Volunteer basis. No one else has been there for LELA, Inc. like she has. Her friendship and dedication to helping others is irreplaceable. She deserves this more than anyone I know"

Please consider donating to help this Family purchase a new to them, reliable vehicle. They do not aim to purchase a new van. Just one that will sit their Family of 7, be reliable and ensure they can seek the medical attention that is so desperately needed.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
