My name is Riccardo Scarafoni and I was born and raised in Lucca, Italy where I still live today.
MY STORY & MY COMPANY
Lucca is Tuscany’s most charming town, that I Like to call “the pearl of Tuscany”. My passion for the region and Italy is lifelong, throughout which I’ve shared enthusiastically with foreigners, Italy’s richness in culture, tradition and unique way of living. If you know me, then you know there is nothing I love more than sharing my beautiful country with people from all over the world.
After years of study and driver guiding, offering tour services, I spent considerable time, energy and finance to create my dream company, Cruises on the Road in Tuscany. We are an incoming tour operator in Tuscany and all Italy, specializing in designing tailor-made tours, excursions and holiday planning, according to specific needs and interests, for private small group.
Me and my drivers have brought joy and great memories all over Italy. For that reason, I improved my knowledge and the first Driverguide Academy was born three years ago, offering new job opportunities and introducing many young people to the tourism sector. This has been so rewarding for me and I’m really proud of this achievement!
Our service has always been unique in that our Driverguides are local experts and are passionate about Italian culture and offer an experience that is authentic and “off the beaten path.”
My project is like a baby who just learned to walk, and now I need your help!
CURRENT SITUATION
After just few years of operating, my company is highly at risk due to Covid-19. Bookings are now cancelled causing a complete standstill and I’m unable to fulfill commitments to clients and collaborators.
MY AIM
I cannot give up so easily and I must still plan for tomorrow. The “Dream Italy” project looks to the future, when all this is over! I'm sure, when we arrive on the other side of Covid-19 people will need, more than ever, to come alive again through travel, human connection and new experiences. When this time comes, we want to be the one waiting for you!
Cruises on the Road in Tuscany must survive to service you when you can again tour with us. I must continue functioning - for my staff and suppliers, my customers and my family - and for tourism generally, without which, visitors have no services.
I appeal to you to help me maintain this vital chain and support the following:
· My hardworking team – my collaborators, drivers, suppliers and staff are the core of my company.
· Necessary expenses to continue exploring new unique areas to tour that offer one-of-a-kind experiences, while staying competitive.
· Training Academy - our Academy trains candidates, who need work, as highly skilled Driverguides. Trainees receive classroom/outdoor tuition in road safety, art and history and all aspects of Italian culture, to make them ready to drive for us, or other tour operators, and help you discover Italy.
We are continuing to look ahead, over the rainbow (#andràtuttobene), please join us and dream Italy! Despite the challenging situation, I would like to keep the true Italian spirit alive and never lose my smile.
