<div>My mom passed away while overseas in the Philippines. Because this occurred internationally, her medical expenses are not covered by insurance and must be settled out of pocket. Beyond these logistical hurdles, we are coordinating funeral services to mourn her passing both in the Philippines and in the US. Lastly, the most difficult part about this is an upcoming legal battle around the circumstances of her passing, which has added unforeseen financial and emotional weight to our family. This has has put a pause on our mourning but it's something that my family has to do for my mom.
