Our story: Shane and I met in nursing school about 8 years ago and started dating a few years later. We seemed to find each other at just the right time and were inseparable. I knew within a week that he was "the one". We were engaged within 9 months and married 5 months later. We decided to wait a little while to start having children and then after a couple years of marriage, we started trying. I had never felt so excited about anything and expected to be pregnant the very first month. Much to our surprise that didn't happen and at around a year we went to a fertility specialist. After that came surgery, tests, medications, $$$. My doctor then told us we needed IVF. I was devastated. We knew we couldn't afford the $15-$20,000 for it. We researched online for ways to afford IVF and found a clinical trial in NYC that would pay for it. We have now been accepted into the trial and are ecstatic and thank God for this opportunity. With all of this still comes expenses and that's where we need some help. Travel to NYC several times, lab testing before we even get started ($1400), and then the medications for IVF($2500-$5000).

We never imagined having to pay to have a baby. I cannot even express the emotions we have gone through during this journey. I have never felt so helpless, stressed and drained. While I am so happy for the many women that have been pregnant and had babies during the time we've been trying, I still wonder when it will be our turn. When will we become a mommy & daddy. We pray to God daily for strength and positive thoughts. We are hoping that this clinical trial is the answer to our prayers.

Shane and I both work at hospitals with babies and children. It is our passion. Having a family has always been our dream. I know our dream will come true, it's just a different path than we pictured. This path will only make us stronger as a couple, feel so loved by our family and friends with their support and extremely thankful for our little baby in the end.
