My name is Gary Schneider, I am the assistant head coach of Crawford High School Men's Varsity Basketball. I work under Jeff Bickford who is in his first year as a Men's head coach. This wonderful opportunity is not without its challenges as the school has just $229 for our program this year. With this money we are supposed to provide practice uniforms for both Varsity and JV, home and away game uniforms, and we have to pay for our transportation to and from away games, and more. If you do the math you will see that $229 doesn't even begin to cover these costs. We have two games alone where the bus rides are $700 total because of where they are being played.
Many of our kids can't afford the necessities that it takes to play the game of basketball. We would like to provide them practice shorts and jerseys, home and away uniforms along with warm ups, shoes, and transportation money to get them to and from games. I have been getting to know the boys and they are eager to compete, and very grateful for the opportunity to learn and play. This has translated into improved classroom performance as well, they have a goals, hopes, and desires and they are excited about the season and what the future might hold. These are young men in our community who are worth investing in.
Our goals as coaches are to make sure all our kids graduate first, to help them see that they have opportunities after high school, and to help bring back school spirit and pride to Crawford High School. We will strive to give these players a great experience with the same chances to compete in the sport they love as high schools with more money are able to give.
We are asking for your help to make this 2015-2016 basketball season a success. No donation is too small. We will need every penny we can possibly raise for the expenses that other schools and programs might take for granted. Would you be willing to help?
