Craig Johnson's Battle for Life

Where to start? Craig, or Craigen as our mother calls him, has been a stepfather for nearly twenty years and a father for a little over eighteen. He’s a simple man with the best sense of humor and never asks for more than what’s necessary in life. He has built a strong home that supports a family of five, starting all his days putting one boot on at a time, and ending each of them with a sweet “Good night.” He’s been our protector, our role model, and the ever-present ear that genuinely listens to us in our times of need.
We couldn’t have anticipated what happened over the last couple months, starting with a seizure we’d hoped would amount to nothing, but which would soon become seven more. As we come up on Craig’s month-long hospital stay, we continue finding ourselves struggling to accept the news of his official diagnosis: cancer of the Thymus.
The Thymus. That often-ignored small organ in the upper chest, under the breastbone, that produces white blood cells, which protect the body against infections.
Despite the undeniably long road we have ahead of us, the strong support system we have keeps us going, day in and day out. For now, we’ve taken solace in the knowledge that our doctors have a treatment plan and that there is indeed still time.
The fact remains, however, that Craig is currently fighting the hardest battle he’s ever fought: cancer. During this time, we wish for him to focus on nothing other than simply getting better. We are here to ask for help, in any way possible. Contributing anything toward Craig’s medical expenses will help return him to the health and happiness that made him the incredible, kind, selfless man he’s been to us for the past twenty years.
