Costa Rican families lose it all!

Hello neighbors, friends and family.
The past few days our team has been assisting local families whose homes were devastated last week when Tropical Storm "Nate" passed over Costa Rica. The government is doing a great job of responding to repair the infrastructure of some bridges and roads which were washed away. The focus of the community is "people helping people".
Cortes is the community nearest to us that was heavily affected by flooding due to strong rains, winds and rising rivers. We are physically working in the community, helping people shovel thick mud out of their homes and we are donating food and water, cleaning supplies, doors, mattresses, clothes, etc, whatever is needed.
We would like to ask our social networks of friends and family who have visited this area, as well as neighbors who enjoy living in this peaceful part of the world, to contribute financially if they are able. All donations will be directed to buy the items that are most necessary now and in the coming weeks. We are on the ground in Cortes, going from home to home, asking people what they need most and giving our support however we can.

For the sake of transparency, here is some information to verify that we are a real relief effort putting every dollar and our own time and money into helping our local communities:
1. Who we are:
We are an alliance of local businesses (real estate and otherwise) who are located in and around the affected regions. We have friends, families and neighbors whose personal property was destroyed in the wake of Nate.
2. Where we are from:
We are located in Coronado, Ojochal, Uvita and the surrounding areas - very close to Cortes, which is ground zero for our relief efforts.
3. Our relationship to the parties we are raising funds for:
We have friends and family members who were affected first hand. Their houses were filled with water, their appliances, furniture and other belongings were lost or ruined in the flood waters and they need our help.
4. How the funds will be spent:
Our team of responders will be using every dollar collected to purchase the items that are needed for return to a basic lifestyle: doors, windows, beds, appliances, food, water - none of the luxuries that give us comfort but the things that people need to survive.
