Colleen’s Leukemia Battle

Donation protected
Colleen, a Palos Heights resident, was recently diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. Colleen is a mother of four kids, whom are all under the age of five years old. She was told of her diagnosis on January 5, 2018 - the day prior to giving birth to their fourth child. Rather than being able to return home with her newborn, she had to remain in the hospital for a month while undergoing treatments. Unfortunately, this was her second time being told that she had leukemia. Nine years ago, Colleen battled leukemia for the first time and was considered cancer free after undergoing extensive treatments. In fact, she was told that the likelihood of the cancer returning was slim – her odds of  leukemia reoccurring again were the same as anyone else.

Since her recent diagnosis, Jon, her husband, has had to quit his job in order to care for his wife and children. Colleen commutes back and forth to Northwestern Hospital every day for 4 hour treatments in preparation of a bone marrow auto-transplant. Colleen’s doctors anticipate that she will remain hospitalized for 6 weeks.

The financial burden to this young family has been tremendous. Due to the upcoming need of full time childcare, medical expenses, and daily living costs, this GoFundMe page was created to assist in funding these necessities.

We thank you in advance for your prayers and donations.
