Colins Fight

Colin (My Dad), has suffered for years with disability subsequent to serving in the Royal Air Force, he was then found to have a Brain Tumour (Meningioma) in 2008.

After surgery there was still about 10% of the tumour left, following radiotherapy the remainder seemed to have stopped growing.

The surgery left him considerably underweight & muscle wastage made him bedridden, unable to eat except via a tube into his stomach, he had problems with balance & speaking, altogether it was over two years until he was anything like back to normal.

Earlier this year, he felt that the symptoms of the tumour were reoccurring & his Neurosurgeon had arranged for him to have an MRI, the hospital phoned to say that due to COVID-19 they were cancelling routine scans, but despite being told that it wasn't routine they would not keep the appointment or refer him to private hospital despite others being referred there.

It wasn't until early July the MRI was rescheduled, it wasn't until September that the Neurosurgeon was advised of the tumour growing again & had increased in size by 300% since the last regular scan in 2019.

He now faces another operation in the near future, the outcome of which is uncertain, there is the possibility that he will not survive the operation, It is possible that the tumour will be inoperable due to scarring from the first operation, in which case the only option left will be further Radiotherapy, which would stand little chance of helping, there is also the chance due to a major blood vessel running through the tumour & the possibility of nerves in or around the tumour, that he will be left with further disabilities, both reoccurrence of existing & possibly new.

A stroke or life limiting condition would also be a distinct possibility, even if the operation is successful what time he has left isn't something that that can be estimated.

It is necessary for him to move to a bungalow to prepare for as manly eventualities as possible & this is due to be available soon (In the next month).

In the meantime there is one major item on his bucket list that he would very much like to tick off, even if any further items are not possible, this is to fly in a twin seater Spitfire.

There are two further things needed, firstly to pre pay his funeral to plan for what is a worst case but very real possibility & to help fund moving to the adapted bungalow.

All this should cost in the region of £9000, which is what I am asking for people to help with.

This is the only way I can think to repay my Dad for all the times he has been there for me when I was in need due to my own ill health, he has had a lot of bad luck & health in his life time, please help me make what time he has left a little easier.
