Many of you have loved Coconut’s story and asked how you can help, not just Coconut, but other dogs in need as well. Seeing the amount of love and support for one little foster dog has been incredibly emotional, and it has inspired me to want to do something bigger for the dogs and shelters in our community.
The reality is that many shelters near us in Appalachia are overcrowded and operating with very limited resources while still doing everything they can to care for the animals depending on them.
That’s why we’re starting Coconut’s Appalachian Paws Project; a community-driven mission focused on helping local shelters, foster dogs, and rescue efforts throughout Appalachia.
Our goal is to help provide things like:
- food and supplies,
- emergency foster resources,
- transport assistance,
- kennels and safe setups,
- blankets, cleaning supplies, enrichment items, and other necessities shelters may need.
Part of these funds will also help us create a more sustainable foster setup at home so we can continue safely fostering and helping dogs in need.
We plan to share the journey transparently and document exactly how donations are being used to help local shelters and animals. Whether you donate, send wishlist items, share this fundraiser, or simply support from afar; it truly means so much.
And if donations ever exceed what’s needed for our immediate goals, extra funds will go directly back into helping other shelters, rescues, and animals in need throughout our community.
