Help The Szendre Neely Family

Donation protected
Family faces financial crisis in wake of father's job loss.  The Andrew Szendre family of NH, formerly of WV, is facing a critical situation following the announcement that Andrew's contract as a Special Education aide is not being renewed at the end of the year. This is occurring, we believe, due to his medical condition causing him to miss too many days. Andrew  And his wife, Jennifer Pratt Szendre, along with their three children are facing losing their home, cars, and medical insurance.   Andrew and his family attend the First United Methodist Church in Gilford, NH.  He originally hails from Sterling, VA.

Jennifer is on Disabilty earnings due to her medical condition of Bipolar. Their oldest is in the Autism spectrum and their youngest is an asthmatic.

Recently complaining of shortness of breath, this young man, who has been an athelte his entire life was rushed to Brigham and Women's Shapiro Cardiac Center in Boston, Ma.  He was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, and an enlarged heart. Any of these conditions in themselves could potentially prove fatal. Many young atheletes have died from an enlarged heart while participating in sports. Normally, a healthy heart pumps 60% of the bodies blood with each beat. Andrew's heart is  only pumpling 10% with each beat.  His heart is also beating out of sync, meaning that the two sides of his heart are not beating together. He is scheduled for surgery on June 23 to place a CRT-D impact in his chest.

Without constant medication and close supervision, this young man with not be able to continue being involved in the lives of the student atheletes at Newfound Regional High School in Bristol, NH. As a  coach and a Special Education aide he is in constant contact with his students, their parents, and the community.

He has insurance  but it won't cover expenses such as medical equipment, travel expenses for appointments in Boston, and weekly lab work in NH. Parking alone at the Medical Center is a minimum of $8 an hour. This trip takes over three hours each way, which means it usually includes at least one meal as well as the cost of gasoline.  This week alone he has spent nearly $100 in travel expenses to appointments in Boston. With the loss of his job, his insurance is dropped effective July 1, 2015.

As a Special Education aide at Newfound Regional High School if he doesn't work, he doesn't get paid.  He has used all of his sick time and does not have short term disability.  With his current medical conditions and treatment his medicalbills are already at $82,600. Due to the fact that treatment was provided out of state, his insurance is refusing to pay many of the follow up and surgical costs. He must continue with this treatment in Boston, as no hospital in NH is equiped for the severity of his condition. He now needs a CRT-D implant in order to survive.

The school system he works for does not pay thru the summer. In the past he has worked as many as three jobs to keep his family going in the summer. This year due to his illness he will not be able to work at all during the summer.  This means that the family is relying on Jennifer's disability payment alone until Andrew is able to work again in the fall.

Andrew graduated from Park View High School in Sterling, VA.  While at PV he was a three year member of the Varsity football team which were state runners up in 1999 under Coach Mickey Thompson and in 2000 under Coach Charlie Pierce.  He was also a member of the JV basketball team.  Andrew played many years for the Lower Loudoun Boys' Football League and Eastern Loudoun Basketball League in his youth.

Andrew got his start in coaching with the Pop Warner Clarksburg Little Eagles in Clarksburg, WV where he coached flag football.

His wife Jennifer is from Nutter Fort, WV, and graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1995.

He has three children, son 13, son 11, and daughter 9 who attend Alton Central School. Please help with funds to support his family in their time of greatest need. Please help this family that goes out of their way to help others.
