Clifford Harper's Kidney Transplant

Clifford Harper is in need of a new kidney. He had a non-functioning kidney removed at the age of 18 and has lived with just one kidney since then.  In 2009 he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. This was treated at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia when a small portion of his remaining kidney was taken out. The cancer was gone, but the organ's function has been slowly declining since then. Sadly, doctors informed Clifford he was at end stage kidney failure in March, 2017. For the past year, he has been having dialysis treatments 3 days per week.      Now, at 71 years of age, Clifford is looking forward to a kidney transplant. He has gone through the testing procedures at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, and has been deemed fit to be a candidate for the transplant surgery. There are many expenses to be paid for such as medications (copays), lodging, food, travel, and not to mention the cost of the surgery itself. A temporary loss of income during the thirty day stay in Jacksonville near the hospital after the operation is also a factor to consider.      Clifford retired from his vending route with Flowers Foods in 2009, and has been working part-time since then to make ends meet. This situation makes it challenging to find the money required to pay for all his medical needs.      That is why we are graciously asking you, dear reader, to help Clifford reach his goal and obtain a new kidney. He has a loving family that needs him!      Our first step is to raise $5,800. This amount must be raised in order for the Mayo Clinic to begin actively searching for a donor. The funds must be readily available when Clifford is called in for transplant.        Any donation is greatly appreciated, no matter the amount.
