Grace Huynh and I are reaching out to you all today because Christopher Lew's family needs your help.
If you don't know him, you've probably heard of him. Christopher, Chris, Clew. He's the happy-go-lucky, incredibly witty, intelligent, charming young man who can make anyone laugh (those Facebook status updates!). We love him with all our hearts as we know many of his friends do! His sister Nicole is equally smart, beautiful, charitable, and just an overall wonderful person to be around.
In 2007, Chris and Nicole's mother passed away from cancer, shortly after Chris's high school graduation. Currently, their father is severely ill and has been hospitalized for over a month. He is in the ICU now. It hurts us to know that they've had to watch both of their parents in pain at such a young age.
Their father has a very sick heart, and the doctors are trying to figure out how to fix it. They'll still need to run tests to see if he would be a candidate for a heart pump surgery. If he did get the surgery and there are no complications, then he would still be in the hospital for some time to recover. After that, he will need intensive rehab, physical therapy, and then likely home health care. During this time, Chris and Nicole will need to be around to help him out.
Both Chris and Nicole are wonderful people, and Grace and I felt we had to do something to ease their concerns in any way we could. Money, as we all know, will always be an issue in these situations. We don't want them to think about repaying student loans as well as hospital bills for the majority of their lives.
With their permission, we started this donation page. If you could donate to this fund, it would help the Lew family's situation so much more. Anything will help! We want to take away at least SOME of their worries (even if it is the hospital bill) so that they can take care of their father with some peace of mind.
We understand many of you are students and asking for contribution may seem in appropriate, but for the majority of you, all we're asking is to give up a few McRibs (quel horreur!!), a couple of beers at dinner, heck, maybe some shots on 6th street--- just to help out a person that we know has touched so many of our lives.
If monetary contributions are completely out of your capacity, we ask for prayer, support, and encouragement for Chris and Nicole.
