Volunteer Coaches for Circus Kathmandu

We are about to head off on an amazing adventure: spending three months living and working in Nepal, volunteering as coaches at Circus Kathmandu (CK). But we need your help!
CK is comprised of hugely talented young people who have been rescued from human trafficking and other vulnerable situations. Many of its members have been retrieved from Indian circuses where they were sold as young children. They trained hard as performers, often learning skills to a very high standard, but usually missed out on other education. Without education, and often with little or no support from their families, their options are very limited when they return to Nepal. CK has given them a platform to express and further develop their hard-earned skills in a safe, supportive and highly creative environment. Circus Kathmandu is organized and run by volunteers, and its small budget is devoted to purchasing and importing necessary equipment, and providing company members with a living wage. While having foreign coaches come to Nepal is essential to the continued existence and development of this program, CK simply doesn't have the money to pay for it. From early January through early April we will be helping the amazing young artists of CK to create new acts, learn new skills, and develop as both performers and teachers. We will be volunteering three months of our time, and our goal here is to raise the $4000 we need to cover our costs: flights to and from Europe (where we are currently working), visas and vaccinations, accommodation in Nepal. As some of these costs are ongoing there is no deadline, and please feel free to donate after we've arrived in Nepal. Any funds raised above our goal will be donated to this amazing program.

Samson Finkelstein and Charlotte Greenblatt are circus artists with years of professional experience as performers and coaches. Charlotte was a dancer, with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, before attending the Ecole Superieure des Arts du Cirque in Brussels where she became a handbalancer. Samson grew up in St Paul, where he trained at Circus Juventas before getting his Bachelor's in Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
