Chuck Pacholkiw Memorial Scholarship

Chuck Pacholkiw graduated from Bowie High School, class of 2005. He was a passionate student who loved physics and studying anything to do with how the universe works. He was the best of both worlds: the nerd with the insanely popular social life; the academically diligent athlete. He took his passion for math and physics and worked diligently toward getting a degree in physics at the University of Maryland. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2009. Despite undergoing aggressive treatments, Chuck continued to shine academically. He passed away a year after his diagnosis. He was only a few credits shy of achieving his degree in physics. Courageous until the end, we were all inspired by his strength and academic diligence in the face of this horrible disease. To honor his memory, Chuck's family established the Chuck Pacholkiw Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is aimed at students who display the same passion for math and/or physics the way Chuck did. By donating to this cause, you will be helping a local high-school student in Maryland realize their dreams of studying the universe and changing the world - possibly even becoming the next Stephen Hawking or Neil DeGrasse Tyson or Marie Curie. It is our hope that this scholarship will honor Chuck's memory by keeping his academic dreams alive. 100% of the donations collected here will be given to a deserving local student.
