El Moro's Bartender in Need
Donation protected
Most Cozumel visitors know of El Moro; the best restaraunt on the island. On January 13, 22 year old Christopher Chacon was involved in a motocycle accident.
Christopher is the grandson of El Moro's owner Rodolfo Chacon, son of chief chef Efran Chacon, and nephew of waiters Ray and Helsar.
Upon arriving at the social medicine hospital, their solution was to amputate his right arm. His family declined and took him to a private hospital where they are working diligently to save his arm.
He has undergone eight (8) surgeries and so far the signs are good to date.
Unforunately, the social medicine program doesn't cover private care and the medical bills are now adding up. A conservative estimate is $400,000MX (Pesos) to $500,000MX. At the current exchange rate of 18:1, that's between $20k and $27k US in a socio-economic environment where $10k US is a middle class living.
This fundraiser is not only an investment in a good man, but also in the next generation of El Moro's fine cuisine.
