After a journey that began 8 years ago, I have finally reached my dream and goal.
I will officially be marching with the Phantom Regiment this summer.
Ever since I was little, I have always loved and adored music. I remember sitting on the morning bus to school, headphones in my ear, listening to my favorite songs. However, it was never the lyrics that captivated my interest. In honesty, it was the various amount of instruments that were all playing completely different notes and rhythms, but when put together created a sound so sweet and appealing. You guys know what I mean. It's like eating a warm fudge cake... BUT WAIT!! With ICE CREAM on top. The way the melted sweetness of the ice cream swirls in and out the holes of the cake as the flavors explode in your mouth is EXACTLY the kind of pleasure I feel when listening/creating music with not only myself, but especially with others.
I understand that most of the readers who are reading this now are extremely short on time. Therefore, I'll cut to the Chase.
In the 7th Grade, I officially became a Percussionist/Drummer. Little did I know how much I would fall in love with this.. "Career." tip..tap..tip..tap.. Those monotonous sounds of a drum pad being pounded by little drumsticks.. Was a sound that I immediately wanted to hear... Every. Single. Hour. Of. The. Day. I remember my parents getting so mad at me practicing because quite frankly, It was annoying! The official rule was. "NO DRUMMING AFTER 7:30!!" But Cmon, what if the world ended the next day and I could have drummed for 5 more minutes? So here I was.. Waiting till my parents descended into their bedrooms. Creeeekkkkk....Slam! MUSIC TO MY HEARS! Immediately I would devise a plan.
I understand that most of the readers who are reading this now are extremely short on time. Therefore, I'll cut to the Chase.

"Okay.. It is exactly 8:11. Mom starts watching TV at precisely 8:30 and Dad watches the news at 9:00. This gives me precisely 49 minutes of practice time. But wait, once they finish watching they would want to shower. OK 15 more minutes! So.. 49 15.. Divided by the This years Tax.. Multiplied by my report card... Square rooted by that cute girl in my Art Class.. THERE'S A CHOCOLATE BAR UNDER MY BED.... AWESOME! 64.1252 Minutes to PRACTICE!"
And As you can imagine this would go on almost every night for the next couple of years. Long story short, I went into high school marching band. Playing various different types of Drums. But I wanted more.. There has to be more right? I wanted to the the BEST in the world. And I wanted to drum with the best, look like the best, and learn from the best. And that is when I found them.. It was like Falling in love at first sight.. The ghost in white uniforms... No doubting it... I swore to myself, that I was going to join this group even if it kills me.. I swore to myself, That I was going to join the Phantom Regiment.
But what/who is/are a/the.. "Phantom Regiment".

In short, We are a Drum corp who compete in DCI (Drum Corp International). We work our butts off and tour the country for 3 months in the pursuit of perfection.. and Something Special. We practice 14 hours a day.. Every day.. For YOU. Our fans. You guys are worth it. Every single sweat.. Blood.. And Tear!
And now here we are aren't we? The whole reason why we're both here. The reason why I am working two jobs while being a full time student. The reason why I am flying every month to Chicago, Illinois just to Audition. And now guys, I did it! I made my dream come true! I mean.. It only too 8 Years!! But heck, I'm here. And I need your help!
You see that Number at the top of this page? That's right. This "Dream" of mine will cost me $3125 dollars. Now, I am the type of person who likes to take care of everything by himself. However, in reality, I need the help of my friends and family. The tickets to Chicago cost me $400 every month. And so much more expenses that I could not begin to explain have to be paid. However, I can handle those. BUT... Plain and Simple, In order to march, I will have to pay my tuition ($3125).
Why is it so expensive? The Phantom Regiment are a Non-Profit Organization. Therefore, we all have to chip in. For 3 months we tour around the ENTIRE country.. Performing at shows.. Sleeping on Gym Floors.. And competing in the Drum Corp International! Please watch the video that was attached to this page. You'll understand.
