Team Up for Team Chris

As many know, this past September, Chris came out of remission. He has since had a splenectomy and several different chemo treatments. All have failed as his Lymphoma is aggressive and is not responding to those treatments. As of now his Lymphoma is in his liver, bone marrow, and lymph nodes beside his liver. Because of the progression of the disease he has developed a rare secondary condition called HLH. The concern at this time is being able to get his liver treated and getting this disease under control and back into remission so that he can move forward with an allogeneic stem cell transplant. Chris is young and has a wife, 4 children, and countless family and friends who love him, so hospice just was not an option for us. His doctor is going to whatever lengths needed to continue to treat him and find remission. He has collaborated with doctors at UNC, Duke, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. In addition we are in the process of working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Research Organization to find possible clinical trials nationwide. At this point, I have only worked 8 hours in two weeks in order to be by my husband's side and balance being able to be a mom still too. Thankfully my parents and his mother and other family members have really stepped up in helping me out with the kids...as well as coaches at school. This is a really difficult time and we are needing the support of whoever is able in order to maintain life as usual for the kids and to afford us the opportunity to seek the treatment he may need with these clinical trials. Christopher is a loving father of 4 and is a huge lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also loves Duke basketball. He is a hard worker and a jack of all trades. He has coached middle school girls basketball and youth football. He has a huge heart and when well, is the funniest person I have ever met. He is passionate and loves hard the people in his life and would give you the shirt off his back no questions asked at anytime. He has so much life left and we want to ensure that he can get another chance at life cancer free.  He deserves this.
