Chrystian's Wheelchair VAN w/Lift & Medical Expenses

Donation protected

On January 20, 1994 I was blessed with the birth of my son Chrystian. On January 23 I received a call from the doctor that my baby boy was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia . I was devastated but determined to raise him as normal as possible.

Over the next 17 years Chris would experience virtually every complication of this horrible disease. But our biggest fear hadn't happened. That changed on March 30, 2011. That was the day Chrystian suffered a stroke. After being admitted to the hospital w discovered that Chris had actually suffered a cluster of strokes that had him locked in a continual seizure that lasted THREE DAYS! Our family sat at his bedside for days waiting for him to come around. And on the 7th day, he did.

After being discharged we spent 6 Weeks in a rehabilitation hospital. And although Chris made great strides in recovery, we knew things had changed. Chris was onow in a wheelchair. He learned to use a Walker for short distances. But he was primarily in a wheelchair.

We now had 6 different specialists that we have to see, as well as monthly exchanges of red blood cells. We often have 2 to 3 appointments in a week and we live 50 miles from the hospital. And because we are outside the border, I have to transport Chris to school as well.

This is why we are turning to you for help. WE NEED A VEHICLE! I've had to quit my job to be Chris'full time caregiver. I've tried using transportation companies provided by the state, but the few companies that provide that service don't serve my area. We've used my mothers 1994 car, but that is breaking down and it can't accommodate his wheelchair.

We are desperate! Chris can't start his senior year until I have transportation. And i'm afraid that my moms car will quit any minute. I plan on using the money to purchase a newer used vehicle and what ever money is left over, we will use for transportation and hospital expenses. What ever amount you can give will bring tears to my eyes. I have never asked for help with anything, but I now know that I can't do it all. We need your help to make sure my son can make all his appointments, because they are what keeps him alive.
