Chopper Family Fund

We are ten days out from the tragic accident of Kari Chopper and the Legacy High football team. Kari’s funeral was a few days ago and it is now that the world begins to move on. It is perfectly normal that the media is reporting something else, and many friends and acquaintances have returned to their normal routine. However, for Josh Chopper and his kids the grief has only just begun. You see during all the commotion when the community is at your fingertips wanting to help, wanting to encourage you, being interviewed by the media, funeral plans, meals being provided it’s easier to put grief aside but it is now when all the commotion has settled and the Chopper family returns to school and to work; all without their number one, their Mom who makes the world go round. It’s the moments where you realize no lunches are made, no forced hugs and kisses to greet you at the door, no whining about putting on a jacket because it’s cold outside, no reminder that you are an incredible human being and not to take crap from the world. It is those missing moments that will begin to hit like a ton of bricks. Meanwhile, the world has moved on. Speaking from experience, after losing my dad when I was in high school. Friends don’t know what to say, co-workers just give you hugs because they have no idea what else to do. Its right now that is the very hardest time the Chopper’s will ever face.

I don’t say this to cause heavy hearts or bring tears. I say it as a reminder to not forget what this family will go through. Each day will seem like it is a mission, a journey to just survive.  Let us pray and remember them each day and the pain that they will face; that they might find comfort and peace in this time.

Something you may not know, the Chopper family was forced from their home months ago because they couldn’t afford it. They have been living with relatives ever since, and as you can imagine, on top of the pain of losing their mother, having no space of their own makes it that much more difficult. I have raised the fundraising goal a few times to help with housing, food, clothes, car expenses and so on. And although that goal is almost met again, $30,000 is not much when you need a home for your family above all else. I’m hoping to find resources or an organization that might be able to help them find a home. As I have said before, Kari’s income was their primary income and what they have now to pay in rent is very little. If you know of someone that may be able to help, please have them contact me and I will put you in contact with Josh Chopper. If you have it on your heart to help but what you have is very little please feel free to continue giving to the page. It goes directly to Josh Chopper and directly to providing the very practical needs of housing, food, and clothing.

Thank you again for the incredible and loving support you all have given for this family! Many blessings to you all!

(Due to the trending nature and popularity of this gofundme account you need to be aware of who I am, how I know the Choppers and what am I fundraising for.

My name is Jenna Rodgers. My husband, Josh Rodgers, and I are the previous youth leaders of the 3 youngest Chopper kids. We met the Chopper family at a church in Louisville, CO. We are from Benton, Arkansas and moved to Broomfield to help a church. We have since moved back to Benton and are working to help the Chopper family as much as we can from here. These funds that you are donating will go directly to Josh Chopper to pay for funeral expenses and to provide food, bills, and help with housing costs. Kari was one of the primary incomes for this large family and they are in great need of financial support.

On behalf of the Chopper family, I cannot thank you all enough for responding with such magnitude. Join with us and continue praying for this family. As well as, sharing this post and getting the word out. The denver area is surrounding this family in support and I am so thankful!)
