Kilimanjaro Charity Trek: Making Every Step Count!
Hey Friends!
In February 2018, Crystal and Chloe are treking Mt. Kilimanjaro as a fundraiser for The Discover Outdoors Foundation!
Like many, we have dreamed of climbing Kilimanjaro for most of our lives. Now, as employees of The Cliffs Climbing + Fitness, in collaboration with The Discover Outdoors Foundation, we finally have the opportunity to do so, and for an AMAZING cause!
The mission of the Discover Outdoors Foundation is to develop empowered, curious and positive young leaders in urban communities through life-changing outdoor experiences. They are committed to helping kids from underprividelged schools in the New York City area experience the outdoors and gain the love and passion for it, just like we did when we were kids.
Together, we envision a world where every child has the opportunity to become confident, responsible young leaders in their community.
Therefore, Chloe and I are making our commitment by hiking 19,341 ft to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro and are hoping you will match us foot for dollar to send these kids on life changing adventures this school year.
What your donation will do:
$25 supports one student on a day trip.
$100 supports one student on an overnight camping trip.
$500 supports a class for a day .
$1,000 supports a student on a 3-week backpacking adventure.
$5,000 supports a class for a semester.
$10,000 supports a class for a full school year.
Since 2013, Discover Outdoors has provided life changing adventures to 1,362 economically disadvangated children. However, the latest census data shows that there are roughly 1.7 million children living in the New York City with more than 500,000 of them living below the poverty line. That's nearly 367x more kids that have still never been camping, climbing, biking, swimming, or even hiking!
So please help us reach our goal of $19,341, which will help at least 700 of these underserved kids outside this year!
