Hi, my name is Nick and this is me with my 6 1/2 year old son Sean, I only want what is best for him, a father in his life. His mother and I have very different ideas about that. This has lead to a seemingly endless 6 1/2 years of a court battle that has drained us physically, emotionally and financially.
My son’s mother sees no value in my relationship with him. He gets in trouble when he asks to talk to me on the phone or calls me Dad instead of Nick, according to Sean he gets a timeout in his room or grounded for a week. He missed 22 days during his first year of school, according to Sean he got to stay home on several occasions because he was good in school and stayed in his room to play legos and watch movies. Sean has also told myself and his therapist about numerous other events that are a cause for concern, to say the least.
I do my best to co-parent with her and remain a neutral parent. I will send her online messages concerning our son such as parenting scheduling, medical information etc and she will not read them or respond for months at time. I share medical information and text her when he has medical appointments and have him call when we go to the hospital. Unlike her, I need to ask 3rd parties in order to find out who his medical provider is, social security number etc.
We need a custody evaluation. An expert third party to look at all the facts and make impartial recommendations. I fully agree that this is the next best step in determining custody of our son, Sean. I agreed to pay for the entire cost because the previous evaluation was thrown out due to lack of payment on her part.

The evaluator’s retainer is $5,000. He’s worth every penny. He’s a licensed clinical psychologist who’s been practicing for nearly 20 years. I have no doubt that he will have valuable insight into our situation. Here is a link to his website - http://www.lasvegasforensicpsychology.com/
The problem, of course, is money. Originally, I was counting on a very generous family member to cover this retainer for me, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, they are no longer able to help.
You might be wondering why I’m asking for $15,000 instead of $5,000. Well, $5,000 is just the retainer, it could easily end up costing $10-15,000 in the end. I will also need to pay my attorney another retainer when the evaluation is over, which will be $4,000. After that is paid, I will donate any remaining money to Equal Rights For Divorced Fathers in Las Vegas.
This evaluation cannot start until this retainer is paid. The longer it takes to raise this money, the longer my son is caught in the middle of all this.
Anything you can give will mean the world to my son and I. I can certainly sympathize if you are unable to give financially. If that’s the case, then please share this page on your facebook, tumblr, twitter, google+, anything to get the word out and help my son.
