Checkerboard Construction Recovery

It is with great sadness that I make this plea to my friends, customers and the general community of Spokane. We bought the Checkerboard Bar almost six years ago. At that time the bar was only days from closing forever. That closure would have ended a legacy spanning nearly a century. The Checkerboard Bar is a historic monument and valuable asset to Spokane's history. Without help (25k) the Checkerboard Bar will slip into history like so many other pricless buildings before it.  We must preserve Spokanes history!
Of all the obstacles we have faced, gang violence, threats and intimidation, prostitution, vandalism and the negative reputation of East Central Spokane we always managed to survive somehow. I never would have thought road construction and the building of apartments adjacent to us could take us out.  However Five months without front door access and repeated alley closures due to the apartment construction that also damaged our building, sealed the bar off from virtually all business.
There is currently no relief for businesses effected by road construction. We are at the end of our ability to make up for that loss of business. Although things are looking up as the roadwork nears completion, we just can't catch up and are almost out of time. A very grievous thing considering we have finally got the neighborhood up and coming.
This is pretty much a last ditch effort to ask for help from our generous community. You can still help by coming in and supporting us but if you have anything to give and a heart to give it please do. Six years is not enough time to serve the city and people we love. November 6th is the deadline to meet the funds demanded. On our end we are desperately trying to raise this money. Thank you for any assistance you can provide us, even small contributions add up.
