On Sunday May 5th in Richmond, England I will be running my very first half marathon (21km, 13 miles)! I have been blessed with working for non-profit organizations in Peru and Angola where I have seen with my own eyes some of the most appalling living conditions, meet some of the most incredibly inspiring individuals and have been lucky to spend time working on the field in both Angola and Peru. I have decided to run this half marathon solely for the kids and families who have impacted my life over the past 5 years of being involved in non-profit work.

As I couldn't decide on one specific project to raise money for, I decided I would pick the PRONUT program in Peru which feeds 230 children 4 times a day. And in Angola, I am raising money for Jardim Infantil, DT Foundation Kindergarten school.

My money raising goal is £13,000, £1,000 for every mile, however if I can raise £21,000 (for 21 km) then that would be even better J I have decided not to set myself a time to run the race in, but most importantly cross the finish line for these good causes even if it means I am crawling over the finish line!

DT Foundation was established in October 2010 with the clear objective of supporting the development of philanthropic projects in education, social development and health to improve the welfare and living conditions of Angolan families. Jardim Infantil, DT Foundation's Kindergarten school is located in CalossombÃ©cua, province of Benguela. The kindergarten enrolls 100 children between the ages of 3 to 4 year olds. A pedagogical educational program is provided including arts, sports activities and a nutritional program providing four balanced meals a day. The kindergarten is run entirely by DT Foundation as a private entity obeying the Angolan Educational Law Principles. The children are provided with two uniforms which they change into twice a day to ensure they are always tidy and which are kept and cleaned on the school facilities. Each day before returning to their homes the children shower to ensure the upkeep of their hygiene as most families in the area do not have the means to have a bathroom in their homes or do not have access to running water. Any donations received for this school will go towards purchasing educational toys, any missing material or anything else the children may require.
