Hi! I'm Charlotte. If you're like me, you've struggled with the desire to help struggling populations across the developing world, but have been unsure of how to make a difference.
So, here's your chance! I am leaving my job at a global PR agency to volunteer for three months at Hope of Children and Women Victims of Violence (www.hocwug.net), a non-profit humanitarian organization that was founded on the principle of bringing hope and opportunity to the female and child refugee population in Uganda. HOCW provides education, mental and physical health services and economic opportunity to an ever-changing group of women and children from Uganda and surrounding African nations.
HOCW is a SMALL organization -- just 13 full-time staff -- and therefore needs all the support it can get. While at HOCW, I will be helping with their communications and fundraising strategies, as well as assisting with their english language classes and observing their trained mental health staff (as I plan to go back to school to get my Master's in Clinical Psychology after this experience).
This is an opportunity for you to make a donation that will go directly towards a very worthy cause -- all funds collected will cover my travel, living and medical expenses, and should I exceed my fundraising goal, it will all go towards buying supplies for the school and clinic at HOCW.
Please join me in supporting the African refugee population with a donation of any amount -- every little bit helps!
