Tits up for the Hackney Half!
In February 2018, I tested positive for the BRCA2 genetic mutation, increasing my lifetime risk of breast cancer to around 70%. As a result, last July I decided to undergo a prophylactic double mastectomy to reduce my risk. You can read my article about making that decision here: https://www.varsity.co.uk/features/16727
Almost a year later, this May, I’ll be running the Hackney Half to raise money for Coppafeel. They’re a brilliant charity who focus on raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer for young people - while you’re here, text BOOBS to 70300 to get a free monthly text reminding you to check your breasts for any changes.
This half marathon will be an enormous personal milestone - and training has taught me that surgery bras double up as excellent sports bras! Please sponsor me by donating to Coppafeel, and help to bring awareness to young women and men all over the UK. Early detection saves lives.
Thank you so much for any donation you can give.
