<div>I hope I find you well. I am currently in Zimbabwe and have visited Simbarashe and his mother for continued ground support, including arranging the latest X-rays and medical records required by other hospitals abroad. This follows the advice from many of you to explore more affordable treatment options outside the United States, as Mayo Clinic’s costs remain extremely high.

<div>It is, however, an uphill struggle here. The tumour has continued to grow , now very large, heavy, and protruding down his neck, gradually covering part of his mouth. Despite this, Simbarashe is still managing to eat, but he is coughing and clearly uncomfortable.

<div>We visited a hospital in Arundel Harare (Dr Tagwirei), but they informed us that they do not handle tumours. I will continue trying other facilities locally to obtain the necessary imaging and reports so that I can forward them internationally.

<div>During the visits, I bought groceries for the family and also gave the mother US$150 to support Simbarashe’s immediate needs and upkeep. He is eating the yoghurt.

<div>My name is Thompson Dande (for Dandemutande) Musiyiwa from Zimbabwe Africa .I am Simbarashe Dande Musiyiwa's father. Simbarashe has cancer . My wife Maria Jasi and myself are very desperate to see our son living a normal life but we have no money even to feed him everyday. Simbarashe is struggling with unbearable pain everyday due to the tumor. The tumor is very heavy on his face and it keeps growing and it has covered his face and eye and distorted his nose .He is struggling to speak , eat and breathe. He has infection in his mouth which has caused ulcers.

<div>On 31 December 2018 philanthropist Violet Makunike received the attached video and also images of my 4 year old boy (Simbarashe Dande..mutande ) in Zimbabwe who is stricken by cancer after a well wisher and brother ( Samson Chitungo) saw him at our rural home .The country’s health system is not functioning and the the doctors said they cannot do anything and so we should just wait for Simbarashe to die . In Zimbabwe Simbarashe was under the medical care of Dr Machisa at Harare hospital . Contact in South Africa has been made with Dr Rinke and Dr Henri who are working closely with Professor Davidson to assist with medical care .

<div>I gave consent for this Go fund Me page to be opened with the suggestion and support of many well wishers and charity workers such as philanthropist and our sister in Christ Makazvitaishe who opened the page with the consent of the family and well wishers, Belinda , Violet , Courage , Florence and Silas to raise money and withdraw the funds for medical expenses for our son Simbarashe . Makazvitaishe will withdraw the money from Go fund Me. Outside Go Fund Me the funds will be delivered to Florence and Silas using Western union.

<div>The main family members working with us family and involved in this campaign for this help are Belinda Dandemutande my daughter and cousin sister to Simbarashe based in South Africa , Samson Chitungo ( my brother in South Africa) , Archboard Chapwanya (my brother in Murehwa) and Violet Makunike (well wisher and philantropist ) , Courage ( well wisher and philantropist) ,Florence Fungai Marimbire( well wisher ,volunteer and organiser ), Silas Paradza ( well wisher , volunteer and organiser). South Africa surgeons Dr Rinke married to Dr Henri and working with surgeon in South Africa (Proffessor Davidson) at Children's hospital for cancer. Simbarashe was born on 10/01/2015 and his previous doctor in Zimbabwe is Dr Machisa at Harare hospital. Dr Machisa did biopsies and when we last saw him in September 2018 he said he cannot operate Simbarashe as the procedure requires specialised personnel and there is no money to get him operation facilities.

<div>We want to take Simbarashe to South Africa for the tumor to be operated on but we dont have the money to cover the expenses. We need money to apply for travelling documents , transport and accomodation while in South Africa. The names of those most closely responsible for the medical expenses are Florence , Silas , Makazvitaishe, Courage , Violet , Belinda , Archboard , Samson , Dr Rinke.Makazvitaishe These people will ensure the funds reach the family and the hospitals and team involved to pay for related expenses. We also need money to cover the surgery and buy prescribed medication for the ulcers and the pain. Our hearts are broken as we watch our son living with the pain and we have no money to cover for the expenses.I am also raising money for travelling expenses, accommodation and food when we go to South Africa for treatment . Our son is in constant excruciating pain and is feeding on porridge only as he struggles to open his mouth and to swallow food. We cannot even afford to buy our son clothes and food as both my wife and myself are unemployed and we survive on handouts from other struggling villagers .

<div>We live in a remote rural area in Zimbabwe (Murehwa) and we have no income to seek medical help in another country . We have three other children to look after. We are kindly asking for cash donations to assist us to seek medical treatment for Simbarashe .If we manage to raise funds urgently I will arrange that we travel to South Africa as soon as possible so that our son can receive the medical treatment and given a chance to lead a decent life rather than to watch him dying .

We are hoping the appeal will meet its target .In case we fall short we will continue to appeal for assistance. The appeal is not for medical costs only. I am also responsible for ensuring all other costs such as transport costs for the family , travel documents, upkeep, volunteers transport ,accomodation and upkeep and volunteer and translators allowances are catered for.

<div>Simbarashe is being cared for at Steve Biko hospital. The medical costs will be paid as soon as such invoices are received from the hospital during and after all the treatment is finished .Simbarashe is still under treatment. The appeal also aims to seek support to raise funds towards a foundation that will in future cater for Zimbabwean children with fibrous dysplasia in their own country as travelling to neighbouring countries for medical care can be too demanding for them and costly.

<div> Simbarashe was taken to the ENT (Eye, Nose and Throat) section early in the morning. Dr Naidoo who is the new surgeon involved saw him at around 11:30am. She was in conversation with Dr Quitter regarding the scan this week and second surgery plans.

<div>Simbarashe had difficulties in breathing hence the reason they referred him to the Oncology department.So treatment and options are still ongoing.

<div>Dr Naidoo assessed Simbarashe on 27/0619 regarding the breathing pipe and complained about the size and they agreed to give spare tubes that would be removed every day.
</div>
<div> Dr Quitter assured that they would do a scan this week so that they can move onto second surgery. After the scan results he said they will sit down as a team and and make recommendations that will be brought forward and eventually communicated to the family regarding way forward for the second surgery.
