Meals of Hope Packing Event

Hello! We are Isabella Sursi, Elena Taylor and Liliana Sursi, Girl Scouts in Centreville, Virginia and students at Liberty Middle School and Centreville Elementary School. We are working toward earning the Girl Scout Silver Award. The Silver Award is a service award that goes to those who make a major difference in their larger community.
After some research, we decided that we wanted to help feed the hungry in Fairfax County. We were really upset to learn that nearly 50,000 kids in Fairfax County are on the free and reduced lunch programs at their school. We think it's terrible to have to go to school, do all your homework and activities, and worry about getting enough to eat at the same time.
To help this cause, we decided to organize and run a meal-packing event. We are being helped by Meals of Hope (MOH), a non-profit that works with the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB), which helps feed our immediate community. We know that this will help not only kids and families in Fairfax County Public Schools, but all families in the area. We aim to raise enough money to pack and deliver 12,000 meals to the CAFB. Every one dollar we raise will provide four complete, nutritious meals delivered straight to the food bank. All donations are tax deductible.
The video we've included is for a similar Meals of Hope event sponsored by Collier County Schools in south Florida. It will let you see how a packing event works and what we hope to do.
Our packing day will be the morning of Saturday, April 23rd at Centreville United Menthodist Church in Centreville, VA. If you are interested in joining us to help pack the meals yourself, please leave a comment and we'll reach out to you. Anything you can give will be very much appreciated.
