Meet the Durham City U10 Central Boys Team. Our team and organization is completely volunteer-run, with amazing parents doing any task they can to ensure the boys learn sports and play competitive basketball together. Team sports has brought a sense of community to these young boys, with players coming together under the guidance of coaches and family to learn how sports can enrich their outlook about what they can accomplish when they put real effort and focus into things. They are also now willing participants in the organization's community food drive project to ensure they are giving back to the less fortunate.
“Many of the kids who play on our team played basketball for the 1st time last year, but they quickly became friends and family,” says (Lisa Charles), whose child is a member of the Bulldogs. “Our team has celebrated some amazing highs and helped each other through a few lows. For us, it’s not about the best skills or making sure that our players can compete at an elite level, it’s about building the skills that will help them succeed as they grow in sports and in life.”
This fundraising activity will help our team by making sure that every player is able to attend tournaments this season. Last year, the team was only able to enter two tournaments mainly because they were new to the system and just getting accustomed to league games and tournament style games. Added to that was the fact that the cost of attending some of the bigger tournaments was higher than anticipated and therefore out of reach for many of our players and their families.
We have provided a limited number of tickets towards winning 5 amazing prizes for the lucky winners selected from everyone who donated toward our fundraising effort, check out the prizes below. Spread the word, let everyone know that they will go fast : Our Fundraising ends Jan 14,2018. We will keep you posted on our fun season. Keep in mind any amount will help get us closer to becoming the best in 2018.
