Latino Student Union: Cena Familiar

Here at the University of Maryland, Latino Student Union works to provide events and meetings that not only cater to the Latino community, but to inform other ethnic groups of cultural, educational, social, and political issues concerning Latinos. Our goal is to embrace various Latino traditions while shedding light to both historical and current matters.  

We belive the immigration should be a joyful and pleasant time filled with limitless opportunities. We believe that it should be done together as a family.

This year, we have teamed up with Casa de Maryland, an non-profit organization located in Langley Park, with the goal of raising enough funds to provide at least two refugee families with a holiday gift and scholarships, which will allow them to use Casa de Maryland’s various services such as english, immigration, and/or trade school training.

The cost of funraising a family is $400 and we plan to raise this money by:

1) Hosting the "Cena Familiar" benefit dinner on Monday, December 1st, 2014,  at the Nyumburu Cultural Center at the University of Maryland

2) Relying on donotions from external stakeholders such as local businesses, restuarants, press, and everyday people like you and me
