Medical Bills

Donation protected
Right after I was born and transferred to the NICU my parents were told I wouldn’t live through the night. My lungs weren’t developed as my mom’s placenta had detached during her pregnancy, and I basically starved in my mother’s womb. I weighed 3 lbs and 10 ounces and didn’t get enough oxygen to my brain or nutrients to my body. I have struggled most of my life with medical problems and am a living miracle. In addition, miraculously, twenty-seven years later I birthed my first son William. Three years later I birthed my second son Grant. They both are amazing gifts. Will is 9 and Grant is 6, but they too have been sick since birth. They were born with life threatening conditions. Will’s main life threatening condition comes from what I lacked in my mother’s womb, food. He is allergic to many foods and can go into anaphylactic shock (which means potential death) in two minutes from a wide variety of foods. For example, the last time he went into shock was from peas. My other son Grant nearly died in my arms at the age of seven months from an asthma attack. William and Grant both have asthma and eczema. I have a variety of medical concerns primarily Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). I am unable to work and this last year had to give up homeschooling my children. POTS comes with a lot of other symptoms so I have many ongoing physicians such as gastrointestinologist, neurologist, rheumatologist, cardiologist, and therapist. Also from having asthma and endometriosis I see a pulmonologist, immunologist, and gynecologist. We have a lot of doctors. In addition, last time I counted our household prescription total was near 40 medications. This causes much stress, discipline, time management, cost, and pain. Last year wasn’t our highest prescription year, but our total RX cost was over $15,000.00. Thank God because we have insurance, we paid less, yet that doesn’t include the amounts we pay monthly which includes thousands of dollars for doctor visits, ct scans, surgeries, and procedures; our bills our astronomical. In Oregon our family had 20 ongoing established physicians and since moving to Colorado we have tried to establish care with a variety of physicians and it has been challenging. I have vigorously tried to get nine years of established care and documentation to continue here in Colorado in less than three months. Our medical bills from Oregon are outstanding and many are not being paid because of lack of funds and now additional procedures and tests are getting arduous. We would appreciate any help you can provide, but most of all prayer because that is what get's us through.
