Cathie Lehua Thorpe of Goose Creek, SC died at the Trident Regional Medical Center in Charleston, SC on January 4. 2018. She was 61. She was born April 16. 1956 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Francis Marion Thorpe, Sr. and Ivy Iwa (Kamaka) Thorpe. She was a graduate of Kearney High School.
Cathie’s career was spent mostly in child advocacy at The Dee Norton Low country Children’s Center of Charleston. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church for more than 15 years where she served as a Sunday School teacher, women’s missions program, and served on various committees.
Survivors include 3 brothers, Robert K Thorpe of Goose Creek, SC.; Kenneth K Thorpe of Goose Creek, SC and Francis M Thorpe, Jr. (JR) of Port Royal, SC.; 3 nieces, Lindsey Thorpe Wiser of Summerville, SC.; Kayla Kamaka Thorpe of Ephrata, PA.; and Keala Kai Thorpe of Port Royal, SC.; 3 nephews, Justin Wayne Wiser of Summerville, SC.; Cheyenne Keoni Austin Thorpe of Goose Creek, SC.; Kaleo Makai Thorpe of Port Royal, SC.; 2 great nieces, Maggie Jane Wiser and Lucca Lehua Cianfrani and 1 great nephew, Greyson Alex Joseph Wiser, and long time boyfriend Daniel Miller of Moncks Corner, SC.
Cathie’s hobbies included rockhouding/jewelry, scrapbooking, shopping at target, watching the Hallmark Channel, traveling to Tennessee, and making new friends through Facebook. Her loves were God, family, Daniel Miller, friends, church family, Root Beer, chocolate, Olive Garden, Carrabba’s, and The Tennessee Volunteers (not necessarily in that order).
A memorial service will be held January 14. 2018 6pm at Midway Baptist Church 506 St. James Ave. Goose Creek, SC 29445 with Rev. Billy Hill officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests, if you are willing, a money donation be given to help offset the cost of Cathie’s final arrangements. A Gofundme page will be set soon. However, a donation is appreciated but not necessary.
