Cataract Surgery for Brussels Griffon

Donation protected
Please help Quincy, a dog who has faced a lifetime of adversity already at the age of 8, get the cataract surgery that will give her the gift of vision and a more rewarding life!

Quincy came to us from a situation filled with despair. Her owners both passed away in a very short time and the dogs were left with a caregiver who didn't really care. Sadly, due to the circumstances, the dogs had suffered some neglect and were malnourished, never left the house, and had a wide array of health problems. I decided to foster Quincy because, beyond her cloudy eyes filled with cataracts, I could see a gentle soul calling out to be loved.

But we were not be prepared for what we found out when we got home - Quincy had a serious infection of her uterus called Pyometra, and without immediate attention she would die. Thankfully, we had enough time to save her and the vet performed a successful surgery to remove her uterus and all signs of infection. Just a day or two more and the infection could have overtaken her. Slowly, her appetite came back and her strength surged. The joyful spirit in her gentle soul revealed itself to us and has not stopped growing since.

And what a gentle soul she is. She has thrived with square meals, regular walks, proper grooming and medical attention. And yet, the odds of her adoption remain quite low due to her limited vision from the cataracts in both of her eyes. She wants desperately to explore the world. That much is obvious from our walks around the neighborhood. But she can not see and only surgery can change that.

The doctors have done the requisite tests on her eyes and have determined that she is a suitable candidate for surgery. But the surgery is expensive so we are asking for your support to help rescue cover the cost of it. With your help, we hope Quincy will be able to see again and interact with the world the way she was meant to - with eyes wide open! Please consider donating now! Even if it is only $1. We are only Quincy's foster home. You can give Quincy a chance to find a forever home!

Please note, in the unlikely event there are funds remaining after Quincy's surgery, those funds will be delivered to the general fund of NBGR. Find out more about NBGR or fill out an application for adoption at brusselsgriffonrescue.org
