The Rotary Club of Castle Hill has arranged for speedy transfer of our donations. The funds will be provided to the Rotary District Disaster Relief Committee in Beirut, to be directly used by Rotarians on the ground.
Rotarians in Beirut are business and professional leaders embedded in their local community and are well placed to help fill the gaps in disaster relief left by the resignation of the Lebanese government. Rotary's localised relief organisation in Beirut is vital in the face of the pandemic's restrictions on the free movement of international relief workers.
To assist us in this regard is Michel Jazzar from the Rotary Club of Kesrouan, Lebanon who is also the Chairman of the Rotary District Disaster Relief Committee for Beirut. Michel is working with District Governor Mazen Alumran who is from the Rotary Club of Manama, Bahrain.
Our Mayor of The Hills Shire, Sydney, Councillor Dr Michelle Byrne, has witnessed over many years the work of the Rotary Club of Castle Hill in our local and wider community, most recently our support of people affected by bushfires and drought stricken farmers.
Michelle is proud to support our appeal: "My heart goes out to the Lebanese community. We have many people here in the Hills Shire who are feeling the pain of this devastating event on their friends and family in Beirut. Even a small contribution will help the speedy rebuilding of their nation"
Many Australians are under financial strain like never before, but if you feel you are able and you find yourself more fortunate than those in Beirut, please find it in your heart to help with a donation.
Regardless of your ability to help, please share this with your family and friends.
