Cary Lea Quadriplegic Fund

Almost 1 year ago, at age 49, Cary Lea suffered from a spinal stroke, multiple infections, and other symptoms that led to him having 3 surgeries in less than a week and the loss of feeling and mobility from the neck down. Everyday is a struggle for him, emotionally and physically. He has been to three different hospitals throughout the year, every weekend, holiday, and every chance they had, his wife and daughter would commute out of town to reach him and spend as much time together as possible. This experience for the Lea family has been extremely humbling and eye opening to the true meaning of family and opportunities many take for granted in life. Our beneficiary is located in San Carlos, Cary’s and his family hope to use the funds they receive to provide Cary with all the necessary supplies and medical care he needs in order to continue living a healthy and plentiful life. Because he is paralyzed, he will need an electronically powered wheel chair that he controls with his chin, a bed and hoyer lift that is able to lift him and move him when people are unable, a nurse at his side, his home to be disability proof in order for him to go room to room, and among many other needs he will face farther down his recovery journey. This fundraiser is important to Cary and his family because the type of condition he’s in with all the symptoms he’s endured combined is undiagnosed and unknown to all the doctors he’s seen; therefore, the care they provide for him is taken day by day due to unfortunate uncertainty. He needs to be prepared for whatever comes his way and it takes a village to make that possible. While Cary fights for his old life back it’s no longer possible for him to provide for his family. In order for him to be taken care of at home, with expenses our only option would be for his wife to look after him in which that eliminates income if shes at her Cary's side 24/7. With the help of donations and people, Cary and his family will be able to ensure his journey back home is not only plentiful to his needs, but also for his family’s future.
