Thank you for the outpouring of prayers and support! Carter, Becky and the boys, as well as the rest of the family, appreciate it more than anyone can realize.
My brother-in-law Carter was riding his motorcycle the evening of August 29 when the driver of a car that was not paying attention pulled in front of him. Carter had to be life flighted to OSU Wexner Medical Center. Upon arriving he immediately went into surgery and had his left leg amputated, was induced into a coma and placed on a ventilator.
Carter has multiple broken ribs, facial fractures, a lacerated spleen, a small amount of bleeding in the brain, and is an immense amount of pain. We are unsure at this time if he will need to undergo reconstructive surgery for the facial fractures.
UPDATE: Carter is no longer in a coma and as of 7:00pm August 30, he was taken off the ventilator. I will post updates as they occur.
He has a long road of recovery ahead of him physically, mentally and financially. We thank God that he survived, but now the trials start. He will have to learn to adjust to life missing a leg, there will be a long road of recovery for that. He and Becky are raising their two boys, ages 9 and 13, and will now be going to one income. I am asking for help to relieve the financial burden they will face over the next few months. The traveling while Carter is in the hospital, then eventually moved to a rehab center as he progresses, the medical expenses, grocery expenses, and everyday living expenses will be adding up fast.
