Breast Cancer Survivor She is a warrior!

Donation protected
The Friday before Christmas 2012, Carla received the dreaded phone call.  The biopsy results revealed  a 2nd cancer, and this time, it was invasive. The treatment recommended - a bilateral mastectomy.

Carla's family and friends are uniting to raise money to help with the overwhelming medical bills from her fight with breast cancer.

She was first diagnosed in October of 2012 with DCIS and underwent a lumpectomy in November. The pathology report came back showing the surgery didn't get all the cancer, so the Dr. ordered an MRI. Two MRI's later (long story); a second tumor was found and the opposite breast also showed an area of concern. A biopsy was performed and she waited for the results.

The Friday before Christmas, she was given the news, there was indeed another tumor, and this time it was invasive. She underwent a double mastectomy on January 2, 2013.

Carla is a single mom. She was lucky enough to have a dear friend, Sabrina, come stay and take care of her and her 5 year old daughter while recovering and going through treatment.  Friends helped with dinners and transportation to the many doctor appointments.

Her recovery has been long and hard. Three surgeries later many missed months of work, she is fighting to pay off the mounting medical debt.  She rented her house out last summer and she and her daughter moved into a campground.  The camper leaked and the plan failed to work out as well as she hoped.

Carla is more like a sister to me than a cousin. She's the type of woman that inspires those around her to be better. She is the most amazing mother. Her faith is strong and contagious. If you know Carla at all, you know that she is a hard worker. She never asks for help and she is always there for anyone else that needs a hand. Carla is such a strong person; a warrior, with an incredibly kind heart.

Although Carla has medical insurance, it doesn't cover all costs for her care. Now into her third calendar year in treatment, the battle is physical, emotional, and financial.

Our family is thankful beyond words for any help and relief you can give. No donation is too small. Thank you, thank you, thank you, deepest gratitude and appreciation from our hearts to yours.
